In the fall of 2023 I joined the Kenmont Pickleball team as a co-captain. Kenmont started with a small team and the number of folks playing has increased since then through the holiday tournaments and league play. During this time, I’ve seen the importance for the pickleball community having representation on the board and allowing room for the sport to grow at the club. I believe there is still more growth for pickleball at the club, and I would like to apply these lessons to other sports at Kenmont like tennis, basketball, and volleyball.

I ran my first marathon in the fall. I trained with a large running group, and realized the joy in exercising and socializing. The training made me realize a big reason I have enjoyed pickleball is the awesome community around it.

Please tell us anything else you think the membership should know.

One of my favorite activities in summer is to grab a book and a beer (in a can of course!) and lay in the sun at Kenmont after work.

I'm interested in collaborating with other driven members of the community to create a memorable experience that Kenmont families are excited to be a part of. There are few things I can't fix, and If I'm able, I'll offer my time or whatever else I can to help.

I’m excited for the opportunity to support the board and our members as we move forward with both ongoing and future projects. I’m eager to work collaboratively with the board to ensure we’re continuing in the right direction—both in maintaining and improving our facilities, and in growing and engaging our membership.

One of my top priorities is to continue fostering the strong relationship between the members and the board. Most importantly, I’m committed to helping Kenmont remain the best place to spend our summers!

As an IT Project Manager for the Housing Authority of Montgomery County, I bring a background in planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

My family—Abdullo, Aziz, Anisa, Amir—and I can often be

found enjoying all that Kenmont has to offer: hanging out by the pool, volunteering at swim meets (this is my second year

as the Tsunami treasurer, playing tennis or pickleball, or

having dinner with friends. In my spare time I enjoy a little Salsa dancing!!

Our family has been proud members of Kenmont for 17 years.

It holds a special place in our hearts, and it would be an honor to give back by serving our amazing community on the Board.

Over the past five seasons as a Kenmont member, I have been actively involved in making the pool a welcoming and engaging space for families. I was instrumental in bringing in the Grasso Brothers for music nights and have volunteer-hosted several events, helping to foster a strong sense of community.

I also served on the Capital Improvement Committee in 2023, giving me insight into the planning and decision-making that goes into maintaining and improving Kenmont. With a background in marketing, communications, and nonprofit leadership, I want to help enhance member engagement, improve outreach, and ensure Kenmont remains a summer haven—especially for those who can’t escape and rely on the pool as their retreat. My goal is to support event programming, improve communication with members, and contribute to maintaining and enhancing the overall pool experience.

Please tell us about yourself.

My partner, Eric, and I have called Kensington home for the last 17 years, and we love being part of this vibrant community. We have two children, Violet (6) and Silas (4.5), who spend their summers at Kenmont, making it a special place for our family.

Professionally, I work in marketing, communications, and nonprofit management, where I specialize in community engagement, event planning, volunteer coordination, and membership development. I have extensive experience in organizing large-scale events, managing teams, and building strong member communities—all of which directly align with the work of the Kenmont Board.

In addition to my professional background, I have years of board experience with Kiwanis, an international service organization, where I’ve held leadership roles in membership engagement, fundraising, volunteer management, and strategic planning. I’ve worked closely with volunteers, community partners, and nonprofit stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and meaningful programming. My work has involved budget management, event execution, and policy development, skills that directly translate to serving on the Kenmont Board.

Beyond my board experience, I attend Fit4Mom workouts in the Clubhouse, which has given me a deeper appreciation for how Kenmont can serve as a gathering place beyond just the summer months.

Outside of work, volunteering, and family life, I enjoy running (even if I don’t love it!), reading, live music, and planning community-focused events. I love bringing people together and creating engaging experiences that strengthen connections within our local community.

Please tell us anything else you think the membership should know.

Kenmont has been an important part of our summers, and I’d love the opportunity to help shape its future and continue building on what makes it great. I’m passionate about ensuring Kenmont is not just a pool, but a true community hub where members feel connected and valued.

Thank you for your consideration—I look forward to continuing to support Kenmont and its members in any way I can!
